I ordered the curry goat with paratha roti and was very disappointed with the meal. The goat was tough and chewy, and the paratha was stiff instead of soft and flaky. The dish also lacked the rich flavor and seasoning I expected. Unfortunately, it just didn’t meet the standard for a good curry meal. I hope the restaurant can improve the quality moving forward.
So the Monas roti I am reviewing is the new one that just opened up in Pickering on Kingston . Drove by and saw the new sign . Decided to go in because I am familiar with the Monas roti in Scarborough, and I kinda thought it would be the same thing . I actually went in for doubles . To my surprise, it was a fusion food place . Greek and Trini food. I ordered the jerk chicken wrap . It was a little pricey but was really good ! and the size was big enough for two people. The owners I assume were very welcoming , extremely nice and attentive . will absolutely be going back .

First time ordering food from Mona's. The young gentleman was attentive, friendly and helpful. Not much to choose from compared to other Caribbean restaurants in Ajax or Pickering. I ordered goat with rice and peas with a side of coleslaw. I also ordered a pineapple soda. This was not for me but for my husband lunch. Total came to approx $23.00. I had a taste when I got home. Very flavorful but the goat was tough. So I tried another piece thinking it may just be the one I ate. Unfortunately, all three were tough. Both my husband and I were disappointed. We may try the curry roti next time. Support local establishments and willing to try Mona's for a second time.
Great roti and accommodated allergies without a hitch. Owner/manager was very professional and you can tell runs the business with excellence. Hope they open more. Maybe in the west end!!
Big difference in taste and size from the original Mona's but don't let that affect your judgement. If you look at it as a standalone place it is good food and although no doubles and aloo pies, the Greek and jerk combos are wayyyy more. Breakfast wise... No doubles so a curry potato roti is the carb load you need. I forgot to ask for the skin with sauce here, but also a good alternative. It's a very trendy package and I can see why the tik toks and Instagram guys are liking this. I would definately recommend this for catering a business lunch for a cosmopolitan palette.
I have been to many West Indian restaurants that are good, however Nick takes his service to the next level. The food is second to none, Please, I urge you to try Mona's in Ajax you will be pleased. Great job guys!
