⭐ 1 Star – Shockingly Poor Customer Service If customer service were measured as a warning sign, the Peoples Jewellers at Pickering Town Centre would be a case study in how not to treat customers. From the moment I interacted with the staff, the experience was marked by dismissiveness, rudeness, and a complete lack of professionalism. Questions were met with irritation rather than assistance, and concerns were treated as inconveniences instead of legitimate issues deserving attention. There was no effort to listen, clarify, or resolve anything—only an attitude that made it very clear that customer satisfaction is not a priority at this location. What makes this especially disappointing is that Peoples Jewellers sells items tied to important life moments—engagements, anniversaries, and milestones. One would reasonably expect care, patience, and respect. Instead, the service felt cold, transactional, and outright hostile, as if customers should feel grateful just for being acknowledged. There was no accountability, no empathy, and no attempt to recover the situation. The overall impression was of a store operating on the assumption that customers have no better options and therefore don’t deserve basic courtesy. I strongly advise anyone considering a purchase here to go elsewhere. There are many jewelry retailers who understand that trust, professionalism, and respect are essential—this location is not one of them. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment.
My partner visited this location to do some gift shopping for me and was racially profiled by staff. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. As someone who has worked in retail for over 20 years, I am disgusted by this behaviour. In today’s climate, this is completely unacceptable. Every staff member working on November 18th, 2025 should undergo immediate training to understand that shoplifters do not have a profile and that bias-based assumptions have no place in customer service. Shame on this establishment for allowing this experience to happen.
If I could give this a zero I would. I’ve been in the store about 10 min now and NO ONE has asked to help me. I almost feel discriminated when I look at who else is in the store being asked if they need help. I will NEVER give People’s my money. Don’t shop here unless you like to be ignored.
The product I purchased broke within two months of purchasing, completely unreasonable for the price tag. Will no longer shop at this chain, incredibly disappointed with the quality.
If I could give zero stars, I would. My recent experience here was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. When I arrived to pick up my order, I began to explain the reason for my visit but was interrupted by the associate, who immediately asked for my ID in a rude manner. After providing both my ID and the order number, I was told that my order did not exist in their system, despite having both a text message and email confirmation that it was ready for pick-up two days prior. She insisted my name wasn’t in their system, and after going back and forth, she suddenly “found” my order—with my name clearly on it. Her excuse was that she was looking at someone else’s order, but that doesn’t make sense since I had given her the correct order number (which should be unique). The way she treated me made it clear she judged me based on how I was dressed, as if I couldn’t afford to shop there. Her behavior was rude, unprofessional, and discriminatory. Stay far away unless you want to be disrespected and treated unfairly.
I enjoyed working with my sales person she listened to what I really was interested in, and I did change my mind from necklace to bracelet, and very happy with my purchase
