A disastrous family dinner (7). First there, last served. Perhaps Mgmt put an over-stressed waitress in a no-win situation. Tables of four near us were getting prompt service, drinks right away, food immediately. As soon as we could place an order, we were told the 4 salmon wellingtons would take 35 minutes (later she told us she said 40 minutes). It took an hour, most of which were spent waiting for our drinks. Oddly, a table of six what appeared to be ‘high grade and entitled women’ were being gushed over and served very promptly by a keen waiter who reminded me of Manuel in Fawlty Towers. Even the manager was charming them, and checking in on them periodically. By comparison, we felt ignored. I called the manager aside privately and was provided with several excuses, including the busy kitchen. Then he mentioned the steak Wellington’s! To which I replied, “wait a minute you are going to blame this on the Wellington‘s”? He back pedaled. I tipped the waitress 20% for my meal. I thought “Listen, this young lady has parents who are proud of her, and she’s out working and making a living”. I get that. Even though she could lighten up a bit at this time of year, nobody deserves to be cheated out of a tip for things that might have very little to do with her. This is the first time my daughter-in-law, and I actually thought about getting up and walking out and not even paying for our first drink, and this was before the meal was served. In fact, we would’ve had way not embarrassed the other five family members. By the way, the wellingtons were quite good, not often seen on a menu.
We made a reservation on Friday Dec 5th at 5:30pm for a table of 2. The greeter and our server Audrey were fantastic. The food on the other hand was terrible. We ordered apps: Caesar salad and French onion soup. These were fine. For the main: we ordered apps porterhouse (medium rare) to share with a side of whipped potatoes and an additional side of fully loaded baked potato and scallops. Prior to visiting the restaurant, I had checked google reviews and saw pictures of the steaks and scallops and despite a few reviews indicating some seasoning issues with steaks, they noted that the cook of them were fine, hence why we ordered steak for our main. Firstly, the restaurant wasn’t very busy at the time we were sat but we waited quite a while between apps and the main course. When the mains finally arrived, the chef and who appeared to be the dining room manager dropped off the steak, sides and scallops. Immediately, we knew the steak was overcooked so we advised the manager that we ordered medium rare. He looked over to the chef and repeated that we had order MR and the chef was incredibly rude and dismissive and simply said “it is medium rare” and walked away. At this point, it was evident that the chef wasn’t willing to replace it and we knew this would mean food being wasted. The manager offered to replace it but we hate wasting food and declined but were visibly upset. We began eating anyway but upon trying the scallops, we noticed there was no colour whatsoever and they ended up being undercooked/borderline raw. It was as if they steamed them instead of pan searing them. Unfortunately the scallops were inedible so we asked the manager to take them away. In the end, this was removed from our bill and we were given complimentary dessert but at this point, our entire experience was ruined and the only saving grace was truly our server Audrey and her empathy. She kept checking in on us and apologizing but none of this was her fault. It’s crazy to charge $88 for a porterhouse steak that the chef just completely destroyed and $24-28 for raw scallops On top of that, being gaslit to believe the steak was served medium rare was the icing on the cake. If I were the restaurant, I would replace the chef that clearly doesn’t respect food or customers or don’t have him communicating with customers in the dining room if he’s just going to be dismissive and rude. Overall, I would NOT recommend this restaurant at all. Removing the scallops we couldn’t eat and complimentary $12 dessert was also pretty insulting.
What made our dining experience, the best was our server, Mikael. Mikael was very welcoming paid attention to details on our needs and every time he passed our table while serving other guests, he would stop to checked in to ensure there was nothing we needed. When I make my next reservation, I’m going to request that I have a table in his section.
We went for a show and they were able to seat us early (thank you)! We were so grateful to have Ashely as our server! She was attentive, adorable, and lovely! Food was great, service was stupendous and, despite no beer on tap, we had a DELICIOUS bottle of wine! Loved the evening!
Copperhorn Restaurant at Pickering Casino The atmosphere at Copperhorn Restaurant is lovely elegant and gives the impression of fine dining. Unfortunately, everything beyond the ambiance fell short of expectations. We waited over an hour for our meals, and when they finally arrived, the experience was disappointing: • New York Strip Steak (10 oz.) – Served cold and dry. I requested medium-well, but it was completely overcooked and flavorless. • Bacon-Wrapped, Corn-Fed, Free-Range Chicken Breast Supreme – Easily the worst chicken we ever had at a fine dining restaurant: dry, bland, and lacking any flavour. • Three Australian Lamb Chops – Decent in taste, but arrived cold and not prepared as requested. • Specialty Lobster Mac & Cheese ($48) – This was the biggest disappointment. It was served inside a lobster shell, which looked appealing, but the dish itself was dry, bland/no cheese, and what I would call over cooked/baked! We barely took two bites. What made it worse was that our server didn’t even ask if we wanted it packed to go, despite noticing it untouched. For $48, I absolutely would have taken it home and add flavour to it myself. To be absolutely honest here, the breads and drinks were the only saving grace, the sangria was very good, and the wine was decent. Bread came with baked garlic and whipped butter, it was good. Service, however, was just “okay.” Our server didn’t ask how the food was, and we did request lamb chops to-go, when we placed our main course, however i believe it was prepared too early as it was a bit too cold. For comparison, I regularly dine at The Keg (my favorite steakhouse) and severely other steakhouses. I enjoy dining at Ruth’s Chris on special occasions, while Ruth’s Chris is pricey, every dish I’ve had there is executed perfectly. Even internationally, I’ve had outstanding dining experiences, such as at The Shard in London absolutely worth every penny. Copperhorn, unfortunately, was the opposite. I was very hurt and disappointed to spend such a large amount on food that didn’t meet even basic standards. The final bill came to just over $500, and based on the quality of food and service, it wasn’t worth even half of that. Dining out should feel like an experience, something you remember for the right reasons. While I don’t usually put a price tag on dining out – especially when it comes to enjoying good food – this one was very difficult to justify paying. Copperhorn left me frustrated, disappointed, and with the difficult feeling I wasted $500. If you look at the pictures, you can see there’s no moisture coming from any of the plates or meals, the plates were not even warm, Just dryness. November 10th, 2025 They advised to call for a refund and I been calling for over two weeks but no answer or reply!
Steak taste like gas . Had the dragon tuna app. it was so bland no taste . No soya at all had franks hot sauce on the plate was suppose to have a soya glaze ..awful apps ..only good thing is the roasted garlic ..too pricey for below average food. Nice looking restaurant too bad the isn’t up to par
I came here with my girlfriend when we stayed at night at the hotel over the Labour Day long weekend. Overall, we were satisfied! The food was good, and our server, Jeff (or Geoff, maybe) was super kind, fun, and helpful! Kudos to him! Not much to say besides that, really, which I guess is a good thing!
